New York Times says Hawaii travel value-laden in 2009

Hawai'i Magazines.com article states that Hawaii travel is a solid value in 2009. I'm seeing a lot of discounted air-fares and hotels for late winter and spring. Airfare in the summer is still pretty high from the west coast. I'm still look for the bargin rates to come in for June and July of 2009, hopefully they will drop in the next few weeks. If you can get away during the months of Feburary - May 2009, now is the time to go. I haven't seen prices this low since 2005.

Summer Airfare to Hawaii still Expensive

I was checking last night for some airfare to either Maui (OGG) or Honolulu (HNL) from either San Francisco (SFO) Oakland (OAK) or San Jose (SJC). My flexable travel dates are from 6-15-09 to 8-7-09. Prices are still high, especially when comparing some of the rates right now. What does someone have to do around here for some airfare love?

Delta 747-400 Atlanta To Honolulu

From the Beat of Hawaii travel website comes information that Delta will start domestic 747 travels from the mainland U.S. to Honolulu. It's been awhile since I've seen U.S based 747's in Hawaii. When flying into Honolulu the only 747's that I have seen are coming in from the Far East.

In 2007 on Maui, I struck up a conversation with a recently retired pilot. I asked him at the time, "how come U.S. carriers don't fly the 747's to Hawaii anymore"? He answer was that after 9/11 the demand was not there anymore and the airlines flew smaller planes. I always thought it was a fuel cost thing. In any case, I hope this is a sign that demand for travel to the islands is on the way up.

Looks like a solid deal from Hawaiian Airlines with travel all the way to June 4th 2009. Just need them to extend this for all of June so I can grab some of this cheap airfare.

Ka'anapali Beach Club Special From Travel Zoo

This deal was delivered to my inbox this afternoon. The Ka'anapali Beach Club is the former Maui Embassy Suites located on the very north end of Ka'anapali Beach. The hotel is so far north of Ka'anapali it's actually located in Honokowai. Just wanted to note that while the hotel has Ka'anapali in the name you're a good hike from the world famous Ka'anapali beach. We actually visited the grounds and the resort is nice with a very large pool and watersides.
